CFCC is Different
CrossFit Cedar City was established in August 2008, after a major remodel of Bryant and Lauren Swenson's garage. Their facility has grown with their business and now fills 3,000 square feet of space dedicated to CrossFit excellence at the Canyon Crossing Business Complex, just west of I-15 on Nichols Canyon Road, next to the Automotive Technology facility of Southwest Applied Technology College. With a committed staff of four CrossFit Certified trainers and a certified Yoga instructor, CFCC is striving to provide the best fitness program in Southern Utah. See first-hand what some of our members have to say on the testimonials page.
"Are All CrossFit Gyms the Same?"
This question was posed to an affiliate in Florida, and we think their response is well stated (click here). CrossFit Cedar City strives to offer a program that is substantially more than what you would find in a typical gym or even at the average CrossFit gym. Our certified trainers are passionate about what they do and you will find that the instruction at CrossFit Cedar City is far more comprehensive than any place in town.
Our CrossFit classes are a full hour and typically consist of several components: warm up, skill or strength work, movement prep & stretching, and the workout of the day (WOD). We place a heavy emphasis on mechanics and form to ensure your confidence, safety, and results. You'll be challenged with athletic, functional exercises, weightlifting, and cardiovascular conditioning. In addition, CFCC offers a yoga course to further benefit our athletes, youth strength and conditioning programs, nutrition counseling and more (see class schedule/programs).
CrossFit Cedar City coaches are not satisfied with just getting the basic training required, but are constantly working to improve their knowledge base through research, training, seminars, and extra certifications, all in an effort to bring the BEST possible results to our clients.

How is CrossFit different from other programs?
In gyms and health clubs throughout the world the typical workout consists of isolation movements and extended aerobic sessions. The fitness community from trainers to the magazines has the exercising public believing that lateral raises, curls, leg extensions, sit-ups and the like combined with 20-40 minute stints on the stationary bike or treadmill are going to lead to some kind of great fitness. Well, at CrossFit we work exclusively with compound movements and shorter high intensity cardiovascular sessions. We’ve replaced the lateral raise with push-press, the curl with pull-ups, and the leg extension with squats. For every long distance effort our athletes will do five or six at short distance.
Why? Because compound or functional movements and high intensity or anaerobic cardio is radically more effective at eliciting nearly any desired fitness result. Startlingly, this is not a matter of opinion but solid irrefutable scientific fact and yet the marginally effective old ways persist and are nearly universal. Our approach is consistent with what is practiced in elite training programs associated with major university athletic teams and professional sports. CrossFit Cedar City endeavors to bring state-of-the-art coaching techniques to the general public and athlete who haven’t access to current technologies, research, and coaching methods.
